Ferndale Textbooks

Friendly service. Effecient and to the point. What caught me initially by surprise was having to be allowed access into the actual store by means of a security gate. So you can end up waiting in corridor, which is not bad, given that the layout of the actual service area does not allow for lots of people and it makes sense safety wise. Books were reasonable. It is on the first floor, so a wheelchair person would need to find an elevator and I could not remember seeing an easily identifiable one in the center, although I was not looking for one to be honest. Something to be mindful of though.

I absolutely love this little store. They have been around for many years. They are very helpful, efficient and reliable. I have used them for all my years of schooling primary to High school. Until late, my siblings and friends and their siblings and school goers use Ferndale Textbooks. They also provide assistance in buying your old textbooks back provided they have been looked after, not drawn in or damaged and torn. A place I can confidently recommend.

I had the most ridiculous experience at this store. I firstly had brought 13 textbooks that were in good condition as I was studying in online school. I was studying IEB curriculum so these books were very expensive, some of these books cost 600 rands each. I was told by the kind lady assisting me that each book would probably be depreciated by 100 or 150 rands. I told her ok. I then was told that half of the books were not acceptable, I said this was fine and that I would still be willing to sell half these textbooks, the kind cashier then add that she'd be able to buy them from me for only 400 rands. I was shocked but asked the lady if I could negotiate with the manager she went to the manager, the Manager gave my mother and I a very cold dirty disgusted look, then she said that my books were in terrible condition so she would only give me 200 rands. I said no thank you, but when a different customer walked in she became so very warm and somewhat fair and yet their books were folded and dirty. I PERSONALLY WOULD NOT ADVISE YOU TO APPROACH THIS BUSINESS IF YOU ARE NOT LOOKING TO GET RIPPED OFF. When I asked if I could buy a similar textbook from what I had, they wanted to sell it to me for 627 rands, and you're telling me they're paying people 200 rands for a textbooks, and then selling them for 600 rands?!! Disgusting and rude managers buy the way... I hope you guys will teach yourselves how to treat all your customers the same, and TO BE NICE TO YOUR EMPLOYEES INFRONT OF YOUR CUSTOMERS
